My Story

Mary Johnson Woman's Leadership CoachOne of the ways to get in touch with what gets you out of bed, excited about the day is to think about what did you love to do as a kid. As part of a program I’m taking (there’s a hint!), I recalled my love of dancing and the sense of freedom it gave me. I was, and still am, an avid reader with a huge appetite for learning. Remembered too were the many, conversations about the world two old neighbours invited me into despite my age. I had loads of questions and learned much from these good gentlemen.

So too when the church pastor came to visit (to persuade my dad he should show up a wee bit more often). I would sit and listen to my folks get into great discussion and debate about what's important and creates meaning in life.

Fast forward to today. My journey to this place has been shaped by a diverse career of 35+ years - 19 of those in the Healthcare field and more than 15 years in the corporate world. Most of my roles involved helping people understand how they landed in their difficult situations and what would get them through it.

Following the threads of my own passions have culminated in my work as coach, mentor, presenter in my own business.

BridgeWorks Consulting came into being in 2003 with the name modification to BridgeWorks Coaching in 2014. My work or mission is about connecting you to your potential. This is achieved through coaching, group facilitation and programs I’ve developed.

Mary had the uncanny ability to challenge me at the right time and know exactly what questions to ask. Her approach was gentle and she has amazing listening skills. She assisted me to focus and live more in the present, and let go of the past. I felt empowered and truly believe that she was a catalyst in my transformation to become a more insightful and authentic woman. The strategies that Mary taught me, I use on myself and with others on a daily basis.

Foundational in supporting my work are the values I operate from.

*Autonomy: Not being bound by old rules and conditioning. Challenge your thinking and way of showing up in the world.

*Purposefulness: Being deliberate and discerning in what moves your life forward.

*Co-creation: We shape our experience by setting events in motion with our thoughts, words and deeds OR by willingly working with what shows up.

*Caring: At any given moment are all doing the best we know how. Be easier on yourself and others.

*Wonder: The universe is elegant and loves to surprise us. Pause and be delighted!
